The following is a GENERAL outline that you can go by for your research paper (this is exactly what we went through in class):
Word count: AT LEAST 1100
(70 of the 100 points)
-Introduction: Brief 1-2 paragraphs on what you are doing and why
-Background information: A number of paragraphs covering the important facts involving the items that you will be doing the testing on (this may be one of the longer parts of your paper)
-Previous experiments: Go over previous experiments that have been done on similar subjects. These are not experiments that are exactly the same - just testing things that you can incorporate to come up with a great hypothesis for your experiment. Find as many as you can (for some papers, this will be a large section, for some – much smaller).
-Conclusion - Summarize what you have covered
(20 points of the 100 points)
**This is included when you submit your paper - AND counts as part of the 1100 words!
-Hypothesis: After your paper is completed, write a ½ - 1 page hypothesis based on the information that you have gathered. This should be as specific as possible about exactly what you think is going to happen in your experiment and why.
(10 points of the 100 points)
**This is included when you submit your paper!
-References: Needs to be a total of at least 5 sources. Can be websites (just write down the web address of the website. It does not have to be MLA format.
**Remember - if you mess up when you sumbit your paper, you MAY resubmit it up until the deadline - GOOD LUCK!!
