GEM MINE LAB MONDAY!

These are the stones that you could possibly have - if you click on the link, it will take you to a description/pictures of the gemstone.
Once you have determined what you have, you will look up the characteristics of those minerals...

AGATE

TOURMALINE
**Most of the tourmaline that you have is black tourmaline (though it can be many different colors)...the fracture areas resemble tree bark...

CLEAR QUARTZ

ROSE QUARTZ

ORANGE CALCITE
**Calcite comes in many different colors, yours is orange...here is what it may look like: Orange calcite pic

GREEN FUSCHITE
**This is a mica and has a pearly luster...looks almost glittery...see a good picture here: Green fuschite

CITRINE

RED JASPER

PICTURE JASPER
**Same as red jasper but has more color variations - when it is polished, it looks almost like a picture...

SODALITE
**This is a brilliant blue color, here is a better picture: Sodalite pic

BLUE QUARTZ
**The same properties as quartz, but this is what it looks like: Blue quartz picture

GARNET
**Ours does not look like the one in the wiki picture, ours is very red-violet (sometimes it looks darker, but if you hold it up to the light, you can see it):

AQUAMARINE
**Closely related to emerald (it is also beryl, just a different color), our aquamarine was much more opaque, see pic: Aquamarine pic

FLUORITE
**Ours does not look like the fluorite on the wiki page...ours is more aqua blue-green or purple and looks like: Fluorite pic

TIGEREYE
**A good picture of natural tigereye: Tigereye pic

IOLITE

GREEN CHROME DIOPSIDE
A good picture of natural green chrome diopside: Diopside pic

PYRITE

RUBY and SAPPHIRE (Remember, they are both corundum)
The rough looks like brown rocks, if you look close, you can see a hint of color: Ruby/Sapphire pics

AMETHYST
**This sometimes looks like fluorite, but remember, Amethysy is higher on the hardness scale, so it will scratch a glass plate whereas fluorite will not

EMERALD

After determining which gemstones you have, fill out the chart with the ones that you have...please note: Specific gravity is the same thing as density
