3/2 - Balancing Equations and Progress reports

Today you received the Chemistry Review Sheet#2, then we reviewed covalent bonding (which we had covered last week). After that, we talked about balancing Chemical equations, and how to do so. If you would like to practice, here are some great websites:

Macromedia Shockwave Chem Reactions tutorial - just follow the instructions
Good Examples here also - and if you scroll up, it will explain balancing equations in greater detail as well

I then passed out the HW#5. If you were absent, or you cant find your homework, you can download it here (after clicking on the box, scroll down to the bottom - wait -usually around 10 seconds - then click the "Download!" button):

You also received your progress reports for 6 weeks into the third quarter. This quarter ends in 2 weeks!!

Also, if you need a few extra points, there is an opportunity for extra credit (10 points)!
Saturday, March 3, is a lunar eclipse. There is a public viewing at Santa Fe Community College, Building X (this article talks about it):

Click here to view the article

It starts at 6:30pm (when the moon rises in the east - it will already be in eclipse when it rises), and lasts until 8:15pm (when the moon exits the earths shadow entirely).

To get the 10 points:
1. Go to the Santa Fe Community College viewing
2. Write up 1/2 page summary of what you learned while there
3. Draw what you observed (I would like you to draw 3 pictures - as the moon is coming out of the earth's shadow - and mark down the TIMES that you made your observations)
4. Get someone at the event to sign your paper
