10/31 - Talk about Bonus assignment, stars, and finish Ch 24

The Summary and Section Review for 24.3 was due today. If you were absent, you need to turn it in to the absent folder tomorrow!!

Today we talked about a bonus opportunity on November 12. Saturday, November 12, there is a star party to be held right outside the Florida Museum of Natural History (next to the CEnter for the Performing Arts), from 7pm till 11pm (you don't need to stay the whole time, at most, you'll probably be there an hour). This tells you more about it:

To get full bonus credit (20 points), you need to:
1. Get the signature of a Alachua Astronomy Club member (or me)
2. Write a 1/2 page essay on what you learned while there
3. Draw what you saw in at least three telescopes

Then we talked about what stars are in the sky (be sure to keep an eye out (at around dusk) for Venus setting in the west.

After that, we finished up Chapter 24, talking about the types of precipitation: rain, snow, hail, and ice storms as well as the causes: coalescence, supercooling, and cloud seeding

Some classes then began Chapter 25, others will be doing that tomorrow.
