9/6 - Tracking Hurricanes and Ch 1/Beginning of Ch 2

Today we tracked the three tropical systems that are currently in the Atlantic Ocean. Tropical Depression #16 could affect Florida, so we will keep a close eye on that one.

Then we began learning about earth and space science, what we will be learning this year.

The homework was to read pgs 6-8, and define 8 vocab words:
1. geosphere
2. hydrosphere
3. atmosphere
4. ecology
5. ecosystem
6. biosphere
7. pollution
8. biodegradable

Then we went into Chapter 2, The Earth in Space. We focused on the interior of the earth, the three zones of the earth and using seismic waves to determine what is happening inside the earth. Then we began speaking about the earth's magnetosphere (large magnetic field around the earth).
